What I Wish My Church Would Ask

Abortion is a very deep and sensitive topic – one that many churches avoid speaking about from the pulpit. However, abortion tends to be a symptom of something much deeper in women, so it is an important topic that should not be overlooked. There are very effective ways to approach this topic along with providing practical resources for those within the church community directly. Betty McDowell, Heartbeat International’s Vice President of Ministry Services, hosts a panel discussion about nurturing and educating church communities while remaining compassionate and helpful.

The L.O.V.E. Approach for Everyone

Cindi Boston-Bilotta interviews Dr. Peggy Hartshorn about her latest book, The L.O.V.E. Approach.

In 1994, Dr. Hartshorn developed The L.O.V.E. Approach manual to explain how Christ-centered pregnancy help center volunteers can build relationships with women facing difficult pregnancies and help them resolve issues and problems in a life-affirming way. It has been in continuous use around the world, taught by Heartbeat International since then (person to person and now on-line).

It was originally inspired by the lessons she learned from painful experience, the hard way, as a young wife, mother, and passionate Christian volunteer, almost 50 years ago.

In this narrative version of the L.O.V.E. Approach, she offers the four steps to you and the larger Christian community in the expectation that you will also find them powerful in your own relationships and ministries.

New teaching tool for pregnancy centers – Heart of a Child

Heart of a Child Ministries was started through the prayer of a seven-year-old child named Grace in 2012. Its goal is to build a culture of love and life through dynamic Celebration of Life live ultrasound presentations for children, teens, and adult groups. They also fundraise for local pregnancy centers through the sale of Pro-life Prayer Pillows.

Nikki shares how she develops relationships with area schools and community groups that allow her to bring this message in both secular and Christian settings, and how these presentations can be done locally in your own area.

Heart of a Child Ministries will be making a video of their presentations this summer that pregnancy centers can use as a teaching tool.
